Song Credits and Liner Notes
The Story
When I was dreaming of a vision I had for starting the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer, never once did I plan for a CD to be included. It was magical, it just happened, and I am so glad it did!
A lot of thanks has to go out to Chris Logsdon. I have always been a big fan of Chris' and knew he had to be part of the cruise. His sing-along style and local Columbus flare is what I was looking for. Little did I know the Buckeye celebrities would be singing with him on our first Buckeye Cruise for Cancer every time I passed through the Schooner Lounge. It became the drawing place for the cruise. People would be excited to see who would be singing or playing next with Chris.
Bobby Carpenter and Ryan Miller showed us they had lead vocal potential, Simon Fraser played the guitar, Craig Krenzel vowed to learn keyboards, and Noah Spielman played drums. We can't forget Mike Nugent on Cow Bell and all of the other Buckeye celebrities and cheerleaders on backup vocals, including William White, and Craigen Pappas.
After dinner at the Krenzel house and hearing Craig play the keyboards, we had a new vision to excite our cruisers…we would make a CD featuring the Buckeye Celebrities on the cruise.
We then called Mark Puskarich, our cruise musical director, CEO and founder of "A Christmas to Cure Cancer," who has a lot of experience with this kind of project. Without Mark, none of this would be possible. His put in many hours in the recording studio encouraging our stars in their singing and playing. Then he spent endless hours editing the CD to get it ready for you in time for the cruise.
We had a meeting in late October that Chris and Stefanie attended at which Mark and I jokingly asked Chris and Stefanie to sing a duet. Chris said sure, and we all laughed, he was serious.
When I first heard Stefanie and Chris' soon to be "Number One" hit in Columbus, "I Got You Babe," I laughed and cried, all with a smile never leaving my face. I know once you all hear our CD, you will have a smile on all your faces as well.
A special thanks goes to our other great entertainers on the cruise who helped make this CD special with songs they recorded: The Ohio State Alumni Band, Chris Logsdon, Mike Albert and the Big E Band, Cure Cancer Band, Karli Whetstone-Datish and Emerson Drive.
I also would like to thank the guys at Central City Recording Studio for helping us with this project.
A gracious thank you goes to the law firm of Freund, Freeze and Arnold for sponsoring our project, believing in it and making it possible.
I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. When you listen to the music, you will be reminded of the great time you had onboard the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer Voyage #2!
Lisa Cisco
Buckeye Cruise for Cancer
Thank you for your purchase of the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer CD. Your support of The Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute is very much appreciated.
When Lisa and Mark approached Chris and I about singing on the CD, we laughed. Singing on a CD wasn't something we ever thought we would do together. However, "I've Got You Babe" resonated with us, and we just went for it. I hope you enjoy our rendition as much as we enjoyed recording the song.
We would like to thank all of the athletes, alumni cheerleaders and musicians for their time and participation. You are all incredible! Who knew we had such a talented group?
Lisa and Mark, thank you for your vision and for your commitment to helping us find a cure for cancer. You Rock!
Stefanie and Chris

I beg your pardon, darling, what did you say
My mind was drifting back to warm Coco Cay
It’s not that I’m not interested, you see
But, there’s just somewhere else that I’d rather be
I’m thinkin’ Key West in the moonlight
Sandy beaches, drinking rum every night
It’s not much money, darling, why don’t we go
Cruise with the Spielmans down to old Mexico.
Just keep on talking, darling…I can hear
The warm Gulf breezes whispering into my ear.
I think a tropical vacation, my dear
Might be the way to beat the winter this year
I’m thinkin’ Key West in the moonlight
Sandy beaches, drinking rum every night
It’s for a good cause, darling, why don’t we go
Cruise with the Buckeyes down to old Mexico
Voila! It’s a Buckeye Fan’s dream.
Raisin’ money hangin’ out with the team
When it’s as easy as cruising away
On board the Grandeur in the sun every day
Just keep on talking, darling, wouldn’t you know
Look outside now it’s starting to snow
We need a tropical vacation this year
Let’s pack our bags and catch a plane out of here
Voila! It’s a Buckeye Fan’s dream
Raisin’ money hangin’ out with the team
When it’s as easy as cruising away
Key West to Cozumel from Tampa Bay
I’m thinkin’ Key West in the moonlight
Sandy beaches, drinking rum every night
We’ve got the money honey, why don’t we go
Cruise with the Spielmans down to old Mexico
I’m thinkin’ Key West in the moonlight
Sunny beaches, drinking rum every night
It’s for a good cause, darling, why don’t we go
Cruise with the Buckeyes… everybody “O-H”… “I-O”
Yeah, I wonder if Elvis is going to be there?
I’ll bet Bobby tries to hog the mic again this year.
Hey, I hear Brutus is gonna be back!
Did you hear, Simon slept with my guitar last year?
Hey, somebody bring along the yellow pages…so that Mitch can see over-top the monitors!
Lyric adaptation by Mark Puskarich and Chris Logsdon.

She came down from Buckeye Country.
Took her 3 hours on a plane.
Lookin’ for a little action,
Hoped to see the sun again.
She likes to cruise out on the ocean,
Maybe swim a little with the sharks.
They hang out in the Schooner bar,
And they sing right after dark.
Can’t you feel ‘em closin’ in honey?
Huddle up and let’s get it on!
You got Fans to the left, Fans to the right,
And it’s the only game in town
Oh woh, oh woh
You got Fans to the left, Fans to the right.
It’s for the greatest cause in town.
She’s saving up all of her money
To take a cruise for Valentine’s Day.
Rock and roll in the sand with the Buckeye Band
Somewhere down Cozumel way.
She followed her Buckeyes all season
And even caught a few games on the road.
And now this Buckeye fan is going to kick up some sand
And just leave all her worries at home.
Can’t you feel ‘em closin’ in honey?
Line ‘em up and knock ‘em all down.
You got Fans to the left, Fans to the right,
And we’re the only game in town.
Sailed off out of Tampa.
It was 5 days on a boat.
Umbrella drinks by the ocean
Helped to keep her dreams afloat.
Now she hears the thump of the bass drum
And the snares and horns close at hand.
It’s the alumni band—they’re still the best in the land
Playin’ SLOOPY to rouse up the fans.
Can’t you see ‘em scriptin’ up honey?
Can’t you hear ‘em marching around?
You got Fans to the left, Fans to the right,
And they’re the best damn band in town.
You got Fans to the left, Fans to the right.
It’s for the greatest cause in town.

“For all my efforts in producing this CD, I dedicate it to Stefanie and Chris Spielman. Stefanie is an amazing woman with what she has faced since her first diagnosis and continues to every day. She does so much for so many people. Chris is an outstanding husband, father and man of incredible integrity. Bless you both in your ongoing efforts to raise money for a cure and help those in need.” – Mark Puskarich
Thanks To:
A very special thanks to the guys at Central City Recording www.centralcityrecording.com: Andrew Dodson, Ben Miller and Max Lewis for all your tracking and flexibility with scheduling the athletes and artists. And always, thanks to Cody Romshak and Dave Clo, without them I’d never be able to pull this off. Chris Logsdon, who put in many hours to help make this project even more enjoyable to the athletes and myself. We had a great time re-writing the words to “American Dream” and “Fins” and adapting them for the cruise. To my sister Lisa for proofing everything on a minute’s notice and catching all the small things. Mark Frizzell and Dave Marsh of West-Camp Press for making my small projects a big importance to your facility. And, thanks so much to everyone for supporting our cause. We all work so very hard to help make an impact on cancer research. – Mark Puskarich
